Sherco has released information on its 2017 Enduro line. The Spanish manufacturer has been enjoying the limelight of late as factory rider Matthew Phillips is currently atop the FIM EnduroGP World Championship points standings, and for 2017 Sherco’s two- and four-stroke models receive a number of updates to make them lighter and help them deliver even better performance for us mortals.

The most obvious change is that the 2017 models get a fresh new look, with new-design plastics that have been reinforced in key areas and also boast in-mold graphics to keep the bikes looking fresh after repeated use. The 2017s also offer more fuel capacity than previous models, with the two-stroke tanks now carrying 2.75-gallons while the four-strokes carry 2.56 gallons. All Sherco Enduro models also receive new frame protectors on the frame tubes near the footpegs to better protect against scuffing by the rider’s boots.

The beauty is more than skin deep, however. Sherco’s 2017 chrome-moly chassis feature more reinforcement in many and reduced steering head angles for quicker steering and better front wheel grip. Out back, the rear suspension linkage has been revised to improve rear-wheel travel, incorporating larger diameter 14mm pivot shafts that feature an improved sealing system. The swingarm also receives an update via the use of a new material on the swingarm pad for better durability.

Sherco also paid a lot of attention to the wheels on the 2017 models. The wheels are also designed to be stronger as well as more trouble-free, courtesy of stronger spokes and new, stronger rim tape to guard against flat tires.

All 2017 Enduro models also receive a new preload ring on their WP piggyback reservoir shock absorber. The ring is designed to resist seizing against the shock body for better reliability.

2017 Sherco Two-Strokes
The 2017 Sherco 250 SE-R and 300 SE-R share numerous developments as a result of Sherco’s 2016 racing program. For 2017 both models receive a crankshaft with different balance characteristics, reducing flywheel effect to provide a smoother, lighter and zippier engine feel at low rpm. A new cylinder head-to-frame mounting support also helps reduce engine vibration through the chassis.

Both models also get a new V-Force four-reed assembly with built-in stops that are intended to increase low-end power while also extending the life of the reeds. Revised carburetor settings have also been employed to provide a more linear power delivery and better combat pinging under deceleration. The 2017 Sherco 250 SE-R also receives a new combustion chamber shape to provide a more linear power delivery and a new piston designed to increase durability for a longer service life.
