Husqvarna unveils its 2018 line of motocross and off-road machines. The TC 85 receives the most attention to challenge the mini moto class.

Husqvarna has pulled the wraps off its 2018 Husqvarna TC and FC motocross motorcycles, which consist of eight models encompassing the TC two-stroke and FC four-stroke families that feature the latest in Husqvarna technology. Additionally, Husqvarna announced its line of TX and FX off-road competition models.

If you read the announcement of the 2018 KTM Motocross family, then it’s no surprise that Husqvarna, too, is announcing an all-new mini model, the 2018 TC 85, which offers many of the same features found on Husqvarna’s “big kid” models but in scaled-down form for the intensely competitive 85cc motocross class.

The list of new on the TC 85 extends from the engine to the chassis. The new engine is designed to deliver broader and more controllable power, thanks in part to a new power valve that allows power delivery to be tailored simply and more effectively than before. A new Cro-Moly steel frame boasts different geometry than the previous model with specs aimed at better handling and increased comfort. Torsional rigidity has been increased while longitudinal stiffness has been decreased to enhance agility while offering greater high-speed stability at the same time.

The TC 85 also gets a serious suspension update in the form of all-new WP AER 43 split air and oil forks and a model-specific version of the new WP XPlor PDS shock. Husky says that the new suspension provides a step up in performance while fork adjustment is also simplified thanks to a single air pressure valve for preload and easy access clickers for compression and rebound.

2018 Husqvarna TC/FC
From the TC 50 and TC 65 minicycles to the full-size TC 125, TC 250, FC 250, FC 350 and FC 450, the 2018 range has been engineered to set a new benchmark in Husqvarna design and performance. Husky engineers focused their attentions on introducing engine and chassis advances in all full-sized TC and FC models. One of the big changes lies in the 2018 model’s Magura front and rear braking systems. Utilizing a similar layout to the previous design, the new brakes are claimed to offer increased sensitivity and feeling. Also, the electric start-only FC four-stroke machines now feature a new compact Li-Ion 2.2 Ah battery with improved output consistency.
