Christophe Nambotin Wins EnduroGP of Hungary

Christophe Nambotin puts together two clean days to win the headline class at the EnduroGP of Italy. Beta’s Steve Holcombe retains the series point lead.

Red Bull KTM’s Christophe Nambotin of France beat back all challengers to win the Maxxis EnduroGP of Hungary, round four of the FIM Enduro World Championship in Paradfürdo, Hungary, June 24-25.

Nambotin was the fastest rider on Day 1, outpacing current EnduroGP series points leader Steve Holcombe, the Beta rider finishing just under 22 seconds behind Nambotin while Loic Larrieu of France finished third. Nambotin got off to a good start by winning the first two special tests and went on to win another three to seal the deal.

Holcombe came out on top of a four-rider battle for the second position. After a shaky first lap, the UK rider came on strong during the second lap. Larrieu was the third in the order but the first rider to finish aboard a four-stroke, trailing Holcombe by less than 4 seconds. Sherco rider Matthew Phillips was fourth, and Nathan Watson was fifth after posting the fastest EnduroGP time in the final two special tests of the day.

Day 2 went Nambotin’s way despite heavy pressure from his teammate, Nathan Watson. Nambotin was able to hold off Watson, finishing less than 5 seconds ahead of him on a day on which the top three finishers finished within 10 seconds of each other. Nambotin was the fastest rider in five of the 10 special tests on the day. Larrieu finished right behing Watson while Holcombe struggled to maintain the momentum he had enjoyed on Day 1 and slipped to fourth place. Fellow Beta factory rider Alex Salvini was fifth.

Holcombe ontinues to lead the EnduroGP championship standings with 167 points. Larrieu is second with 146 and Nambotin is third with 141.
