Justin Barcia survives a harrowing crash at the Genova Supercross in Italy.

Toyota/Yamaha/JGRMX rider Justin Barcia suffered injuries in a crash at the Monster Energy Genova Supercross in Italy tonight. He was hospitalized after the incident.

Barcia appeared to make contact with another rider over a jump and went down. Fellow American Eli Tomac was behind Barcia at the time and could not avoid making contact with Barcia. In the video footage of the crash, Tomac appears to strike Barcia in the head.

The following messages appeared on his official web page after the incident:

“No concussion nothing broken my gear did the job pourcell drifted from the inside to the outside of the section nothing I could do! #sucks…”Two bruised lungs sore neck and back and some air in my chest have to stay in intensive care for the night hopefully can get out tomorrow.”

Barcia was the AMA Rookie of the Year award in 2009 and earned two Monster Energy 250SX East titles before moving to the 450cc class in 2013. He won two 450cc Supercross races in his rookie 450cc season and claimed the 450cc Rookie of the Year award with Team Honda before signing with Toyota/Yamaha/JGRMX for the 2015 and 2016 seasons.
