Poll Question: Dungey or Tomac? Who Will Win the AMA Supercross Title in Las Vegas?

Answer our poll question and tell us who you think will end up with the Monster Energy AMA SX title in Las Vegas, Ryan Dungey or Eli Tomac?

Granted, three points was a sliver of a margin for Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series points leader Eli Tomac to hold over Ryan Dungey as the series headed into MetLife Stadium this past weekend…

But consider the dominance that Tomac has displayed since turning what appeared to be a season headed for disaster after the first few rounds of the series were in the book into one where he has been recognized as the man to beat at any given round, Add in the fact that in the nine races prior to the New Jersey round, Tomac was first or second in all of them, erasing a 29-point gap held by defending Monster Energy AMA Supercross Champion Ryan Dungey before taking over the points lead at the previous round in Salt Lake City. The title was easily going to go to Tomac, right?

But in the wake of the New Jersey round, now things don’t look so promising for the Monster Energy Kawasaki rider. A pair of miscues that left him with a stalled motorcycle and dropped him to the back of the pack in the New Jersey main event forced Tomac to try and make the podium with just a few laps left in order to mitigate the points accumulated by race winner Dungey. Despite Tomac’s best efforts, an eighth-place finish resulted in a 12-point swing that leaves him nine points behind Dungey as the 17-round series heads to its finale at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas on May 6.

It’s still all to play for as Tomac and Dungey square off one last time. If the New Jersey Supercross proved anything, it is that anything can happen and it often does. Will Tomac be able to rebound, do his job and win the race? Possibly. Will Dungey be able to keep his cool and make sure that he lands fourth or better to maintain the necessary gap needed to win the title by one point? Remember: A tie favors Tomac, so fifth place is out of the question for Dungey if Tomac does win.

Vegas is going to be nothing if not interesting. So who do you think wlll win the title?
