Factory FMF/KTM’s Taylor Robert scored his first career GEICO AMA EnduroCross Series win Saturday night at XFINITY Arena in Everett, Washington, Saturday night as the battle for the series championship intensified even further.

“It feels great to get a win tonight,” Robert said after the main event. “I have been working really hard and seeing a lot of progress and it has finally paid off.”

Robert was consistent in the morning qualifying laps, turning times that were among the top three fastest. He was placed in the third heat where he took the holeshot and went on to lead each lap to take the win and earn a direct transfer to the main event.

Defending GEICO AMA EnduroCross Champion Taddy Blazusiak had an off night in Washington, finishing fourth. It was the first time all year that the champ has not finished on the podium.

In the main, factory Husqvarna rider Mike Brown grabbed the holeshot, but series point leader Cody Webb passed Brown early in the race and took the lead. That’s when things got crazy, as several contenders crashed numerous times during the race. Defending series champion Taddy Blazusiak was among them, as he crashed right off the start. Blazusiak quickly recovered from last place to move into fourth place by the end of the first lap. Blazusiak then challenged Robert for second place before suffering another crash that dropped him back to fifth.

At that point, Webb and Robert began to pull away from the rest of the field. Webb appeared to be riding comfortably in the lead, but he crashed in the rocks with a few laps to go, and Robert was able to capitalize on the mistake and move into the lead. Robert had to fend off an attack from JCR’s Colton Haaker, who made a bid for the lead, only to crash.

Robert remained up front for the remaining laps and took home a hard-earned win. Haaker finished second, while Webb held on to finish third. Blazusiak finished fourth, marking the first time that he has finished off the podium all season. Brown finished fifth, with Bobby Prochnau, Max Gerston, Kevin Rookstool, Ty Tremaine and Cory Graffunder completing the top 10.

Blazusiak’s misfortunes were a boon to Webb, who was able to extend his point lead just a little more with only two rounds remaining in the series. Webb now leads Blazusiak, 165-158. Haaker is third with 156.

Round 8 of the GEICO AMA EnduroCross Series is scheduled for the Ford Idaho Center in Boise, Idaho, November 15.
