Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team riders Max Nagl, Christophe Charlier, Max Anstie and Thomas Covington are set to do battle when the opening round of the 2016 FIM Motocross World Championship gets underway in the middle-eastern country of Qatar tomorrow.

Nagl of Germany is hoping to get off to the same start that saw him dominate the early action in the 2015 GPs. Last year in Qatar he swept both MXGP motos to score the GP of Qatar victory, he would go on to score more wins and lead the series standings before being sidelined by injury. This year Nagl is joined in the MXGP class by Charlier of France, who will be making his debut for the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing squad.

Anstie of Britain and Covington of the USA form the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing MX2 effort for 2016, which is managed by former World Motocross Champion Jacky Martens. Both men are former Kawasaki factory pilots, and both tasted MX2 success in 2015, with each winning rounds of the series. Anstie hopes to end his debut season with Husqvarna as a world champion. Covington, who won scored his first career World Championship victory at the GP of Leon in Mexico winter, has been reportedly working very hard in the off-season, and the team says that he is confident that he can battle for MX2 podium results week in and week out over the grueling 18-round schedule.
