While Land Speed Racing (LSR) may not appear to share a lot in common with dirtbike racing, the historic sport is carried out on a surface that is more akin to clay than asphalt. Here are 10 things you might not know about LSR.


7. A world-record run must be FIM sanctioned, or else it doesn’t count.

If you reach 400 mph at an SCTA event, you have the SCTA record, not the world record. The only FIM-sanctioned motorcycle speed week in the U.S. is the Mike Cook Shootout.
