Bel-Ray Husqvarna’s Graham Jarvis starts today’s Red Bull Romaniacs as the rider everyone will be trying to beat.

Jarvis, a four-time and defending champion of the Red Bull Romaniacs, has the chance to earn a record-breaking fifth victory this year, and such a milestone is more than feasible. A former World Championship-level trials rider, Jarvis is a hard enduro specialist who thrives in the harsh, technical terrain of Romania’s Carpathian Mountain, and he is determined to assuage the disappointment of his runner-up result in last month’s Red Bull Hare Scramble at Erzberg, Austria. Jarvis has been working hard in recent weeks to ensure he is ready for the challenge that lies ahead.

“I always look forward to the Red Bull Romaniacs,” Jarvis said. “It’s one of my favorite races of the year. Starting as the defending champion always adds that little bit of extra pressure but having won the race four times I can deal with it quite well. My plan for this year is the same as always–push hard from the beginning. Day one was the most important day of the race last year, and this year will be no different. If I can end it in a strong position, I know then I can challenge for the win during the rest of the week. Hopefully on Saturday I can take my fifth Red Bull Romaniacs victory.”

While Jarvis is a Red Bull Romaniacs veteran, Canada’s Cory Graffunder is making his debut in this year’s event. After finishing a respectable seventh place in Erzberg, Graffunder has the potential to be a factor in the Romanian event, and he is adapting well to his Husqvarna TE 300.

“I’ve always wanted to come and race the Red Bull Romaniacs, and finally this year I’ve got the opportunity to do so,” Graffunder said. “I’m Canadian and grew up riding the Rocky Mountains, so I hope that experience will help me through the week. After a strong ride at Erzberg, I want to back that up with a good result here. I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

The Red Bull Romaniacs gets underway in Sibiu, Romania, today, and will run through July 19.
