Kenda Washougal II

No question about it in our minds: Kenda has, by far, the coolest model names of any of the dirtbike tires on this list, with MX an off-road models carrying such nomenclature as Washougal II, Southwick II and Parker. It’s a groovy way to go beyond model numbers when identifying what type of terrain for which each model is designed.

Kenda says the Washougal II is the ultimate intermediate-terrain tire, featuring dual-compound technology that is soft in the center for traction and braking and harder on the sides of the tire to prevent rolling and folding in corners. The Washougal II also features Kenda’s latest rear tread pattern design for efficient traction over a wide variety of conditions. The Millville II is designed to work extremely well in soft to intermediate conditions, boasting a compound formula that provides traction and durability. The Millville II’s paddle-shaped tread pattern is also claimed to improve braking traction. The Washougal II and Millville II are available in youth sizes as well as standard sizes. The Southwick II is designed for sand and mud conditions, and features a large radius support at each knob base to reduce knob roll in soft areas with a hard base. Kenda says its standard race compound allows for increased wear durability.

For the desert crowd, there is also the Parker DT, which was designed to withstand the rigors of off-road racing in Baja California. The Parker DT blends Kenda’s old Carlsbad tread pattern with an updated compound for traction in a variety of off-road conditions while the Parker DT’s six-ply rated casing is claimed to offer 30 percent more cut resistance. The Parker DT’s compound is also claimed to offer long tread life and reduced knob chunking. The Parker DT is also DOT-approved for dual sport riders seeking a more aggressive knobby for their off-road adventures.
Kenda also offers other models such as the Sand Mad (knobby-style tire) for sand and mud use, and the Triple which is designed for Arenacross racing.
