Repsol Honda’s Toni Bou put forth another trademark performance to earn his 13th FIM Trials World Championship win of the season at the Trial GP of Portugal and secure an unprecedented ninth FIM Trial World Championship title over the weekend.

Bou’s win in Paços de Ferreira didn’t come without a fight, as main title rival and countryman Adam Raga hounded him relentlessly in an attempt to keep Raga’s own title hopes alive. But Bou never buckled. Instead, he rode smoothly to minimize his penalty marks, and he finished on top of the rostrum. Bou scored only six penalty points on the first lap, but on the second lap he cleaned every section to card a zero.

“Nine titles!” Bou said exctiedly. “I’m really pleased. Today it seemed that the trial would have been more complicated, but in the end it was quite an easy one. These victories in easier trials are really important for boosting morale, and as I said before, the high level of the rivals forced me to raise my game. I want to thank my parents, my girlfriend and all the team members who have worked so hard to help achieve this title. Thanks a lot to all.”

With his World title confirmed once again, Bou will undoubtedly enjoy the final round of the 2015 series, the Spanish Trial GP, which is scheduled to take place in Teo (La Coruña), next weekend.
