Yamaha Motor Europe has released a video that highlights its factory effort at the 2014 Dakar Rally in South America. The team went all-out in its attempt to win the motorcycle class for the first time since 1998 when Stéphane Peterhansel of France capped off an amazing run of seven Dakar motorcycle wins in eight years–six of them earned by Peterhansel. Edi Orioli spoiled Yamaha’s perfect eight-for-eight run with a win aboard the factory Cagiva in 1994, but the Italian rider would jump ship to the Yamaha squad and win the event for the Blue Crew again in 1996.

This year’s event started off on a sour note when Despres ran into trouble early, derailing his chances for the win. However, Yamaha still put together a podium run with factory rider Olivier Pain. Peterhansel finished fourth, and Michael Metge finished 13th.
