Reigning World Trials Champion Toni Bou continued his domination of the 2016 FIM Trial World Championship with another double win at the Andorra GP last weekend.

Bou, who had to battle with a lingering injury at the previous round, pretty much owned the competition at Sant Julià de Lòria. The Repsol Honda rider shined despite the muddy conditions brought on by rain during Trial 1 on Saturday. Bou once again battled fellow Spaniard Adam Raga for the win, finishing one point ahead of Raga on the first loop despite having suffered a flat rear tire in section 13. Bou actually incurred a five-point penalty in the final section, but Raga incurred time penalties that kept him out of the overall lead. With a new rear wheel fitted to his machine, Bou accumulated just two penalty points on the final loop to claim the win.

Trial 2 on Sunday was more of the same. Bou held a four-point advantage over rival Adam Raga by the end of the first loop, and he was even better on the second loop, cleaning every section to avoid picking up any penalty points, which cemented the win. It was Bou’s sixth win of the season and his fifth in a row. Bou now leads the championship by 17 points over Raga.

“I’m very happy for this perfect weekend,” Bou said. “I wanted to win here after the trial last year. To have clinched the win both days is very positive. Yesterday the sections were very tricky, but today in the dry, I picked up far less marks. It’s been a very positive weekend for the championship. To live here and be able to work and train here is really good. Adam is really on form, and here in Andorra he always makes things difficult. We have worked really hard, and I have to thank the whole team for all the help that they have given us to get ahead in the championship. We have to not get distracted and continue with this line. Physically I’m feeling much better.”

The FIM Trial World Championship continues next weekend with the French Trial GP in Lourdes, France.
