Babbitt’s/Monster Energy/AMSOIL Kawasaki’s Gavin Faith scored his first overall win in the AMSOIL Arenacross Race to the Championship at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Washington, Saturday night, and moved into a tie with teammate Chris Blose in the battle for the championship just as the series eclipsed the halfway point.

Another Team Babbitt’s/Monster Energy/AMSOIL Kawasaki rider, Jacob Hayes, was quickest off the line in the first Arenacross main event, and he and Blose battled back and forth for the lead early in the race before Hayes earned a little breathing room. Hayes then sasew his win chances go out the window when he tangled with a fallen rider and crashed, handing the lead to Blose, who went on to take the win. Faith held off TiLUBE/TUF Racing Honda’s Ben Lamay for second place. Travis Sewell was fourth, with Hayes recovering from his crash to finish fifth.

TiLUBE/TUF Racing Honda’s Jace Owen led Hayes and Faith at the start of the second main event, with Blose fourth. Blose would pass Faith for third on the opening lap, and had he finished there he would have collected the overall win, but a crash in the rhythm section on lap two and dropped out of contention. Owen, Hayes, Faith and Lamay ran in the top four until Hayes made a successful bid for the lead on lap 13. Hayes took the win, with Owen second, Faith third and Lamay fourth.

Series leader Chris Blose had a shot at the overall win in the Tacoma Arenacross, but a crash in one of the two main events hurt his chances. Blose will wear the red leader's plate at the next round of the series, but so will Faith. PHOTO COURTESY OF KAWASAKI MOTORS CORP., U.S.A.

Faith’s 2-3 finishes gave him the overall win, beating Hayes’ 5-1 scores by one point. Lamay was third overall, followed by Owen and Blose. Faith’s win tightened up the Race for the Championship as much as it can be: he is now tied with Blose with just three rounds remaining. Anything can still happen, but Team Babbitt’s/Monster Energy/AMSOIL Kawasaki is looking solid to regain the series title, as Hayes sits third in the standings.
