Nothing beats a good snow day ride in a winter wonderland.

Videographer Kirill Shn posted this video, entitled “Enduro Melts The Snow” on his Enduro Master YouTube channel, capturing him and some friends as they take on the frozen ground near Minsk in his home country of Belarus. In case you don’t know where that is, Belarus is bordered by Russia to the northeast, Ukraine to the south, Poland to the west, and Lithuania and Latvia to the northwest. Minsk is the country’s capital and also its most populous city. Over 40 percent of the country’s of its 207,600 square kilometres (80,200 sq mi) is forested.

As Shn explains of the video, “It has been a long time since my last video, but nevertheless we did not rest on sofas. We kept on riding, and literally melted the snow with our rear tires, on the fields and hills. Hopefully, this will help the spring to come earlier. 😉 This video shows dirt bikes riding through the woods, jumping logs, hill climbing, riding in the snow, including fails and crashes.”

If you’ve never tried it, riding in the snow can be a real blast as long as you dress for the weather and prepare to crash a lot, although usually it will be at slow speeds. Special tires such as the one shown here can be used to improve traction, although the screws in the tire are extremely intolerant of being ridden across hard surfaces such as asphalt.

Another recommendation: When you are done riding, be sure to completely wash your bike the same as if you had spend a day in the dirt. This will remove all of the frozen grime and possibly even road salt if it used in your area. Neglecting to complete this step is an invitation to corrosion of your machine’s exposed metal.

Other than that, have fun! Although we rarely get to bust through the white stuff in Southern California, snow day riding is as good a time as any other when you’re riding with your friends.
