Retrospective: 20 Years of Yamaha YZ Four-Stroke MXers

Taking advantage of the AMA rule that allowed for-stroke displacement to be up to 450cc, Yamaha added a little more oomph to its big YZ four-stroke by upping the bore size from 92mm to 95mm to give a displacement of 426cc. It was also the first YZ to feature high- and low-speed compression adjusters on the shock. A redesigned Keihin FCR carburetor, a beefier clutch and revised first and second gear rations were also key changes to the package.
