Red Bull IceOne Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Nathan Watson of Great Britain underwent surgery today to repair a fractured bone in his left wrist, according to his team.

Watson suffered the wrist injury during the first practice session at the ADAC MX Masters Series in Furstlich Drehna, Germany, on April 11. He had already recorded the fifth fastest time during the practice session when he landed flat over a jump, directly hitting a large braking bump. The resulting impact caused the injury.

Watson will miss this weekend’s GP of Trentino, round four of the FIM Motocross World Championship, in Pietramurata, Italy, but he is expected to make a full recovery from the injury. Doctors are predicting a a recovery time of four to six weeks. Watson is hopeful that he can return to racing at his home MXGP event at Matterley Basin, Great Britain, on May 24.

Watson is 22nd in the MXGP point standings. He finished 15h overall at round three in Argentina after missing the second round of the series in Thailand while recovering from a heavy crash suffered at the series opener in Qatar.
