The 250 does receive new engine cases redesigned to centralize the rotating mass of the crankshaft and clutch while reducing overall length, and it uses the revised Keihin Engine Management System with the new 44mm throttle body and features the new electronic Launch Control along with the multiple engine maps

The 250’s DOHC cylinder head combustion chamber geometry is new, and it also features optimized ports along with new camshaft timing, new finger followers and new valve springs for improved power and reduced weight. Its new, lightweight forged bridged box-type piston is manufactured by CP, the same folks who also manufacture the world-famous Carrillo rods. Speaking of rods, the 250’s new, shorter connecting rod is mated to a new shorter, stiffer crankshaft that is said to keep the engine light yet deliver strong power.

The 250’s five-speed transmission is new, featuring wider gears with a new surface treatment on the second, third and fourth gears along with a special low-friction coating on the shift forks to make shifting easier and more precise. The 250 also receives a new CSS (Coil Spring Steel) one-piece clutch that has been completely redesigned to improve the oil supply for better cooling, durability and lighter weight. Shifting is handled by a new “No Dirt” shift lever.

The 250 also benefits from the new 1.1lb Lithium-Ion starter battery and new WP flow optimized radiator design foundon the 450. A new exhaust header and new lightweight silencer are both designed to increase power and contribute to mass centralization.

The 250’s chromoly steel frame is claimed to be 20% more rigid with 30% less longitudinal stiffness, which is intended to improve handling and energy absorption. The 250 also gets the new smaller, lighter subframe design made with new aluminum profiles and the new lighter swingarm with the revised internal structure to match the new frame characteristics.

A new, CNC-machined upper triple clamp feature a rubber damping system for the new Neken handlebar and ODI lock-on grips. The clamp holds the WP 4CS (Four Chamber System) fork, which features revised damping settings that are intended to work in concert with the new chassis. The new-generation WP shock has also been developed to work with the new frame and swingarm architecture, and it included the new linkage/pullrod system.

Super-lightweight Galfer Wave rotors, CNC-machined hubs, high-end Excel rims and Dunlop GEOMAX MX32 tires are standard equipment.
