KTM unveiled its 2015 KTM 450 SX-F and 250 SX-F Factory Edition motorcycles today, marking the fourth year for the 450 SX-F Factory Edition and the first year that a 250 SX-F Factory Edition has been released. The 450 SX-F Factory Edition is the base machine used by Red Bull KTM Factory Team riders Ryan Dungey and Dean Wilson, and the BTO Sports/KTM Team of Andrew Short and Justin Bratyon. Similarly, the 250 SX-F Factory is utilized by Red Bull KTM team riders Marvin Musquin and Justin Hill.

Both the 450 SX-F and 250 SX-F Factory Editions boast lighter overall weight and improved mass centralization over their production counterparts, with redesigned engines that are more powerful than previous KTM models. The new engine cases on both models are redesigned to centralize the rotating mass of the crankshaft and clutch while reducing the overall length of the engine. Both sport retuned Keihin electronic fuel injection with 44mm throttle bodies, and and each model gets a new electronic launch control to help riders get of the starting gate. Other changes include a new cylinder head with new combustion chamber geometries, a revised valve train and optimized ports designed to increase performance. The five-speed transmissions in both models is also new, redesigned to offer easier and more precise shifting.

Both Factory Edition models have been completely reworked with a lighter chromoly steel that is said to provide improved handling and energy absorption, and both receive a lighter subframe and swingarm to match. Front suspension chores are handled a WP 4CS fork and a new WP shock designed specifically for motocross use with revised damping settings that have been optimized for the new chassis. KTM says that all these upgrades reduce the 250 SX-F Factory Edition’s weight by 7 lbs., the 450 Factory Edition’s weight by 10 lbs.

Both Factory Edition models come with other features to set them apart, including Red Bull KTM limited-edition graphics, a Selle Dalla Valle Factory Race Team seat, orange-anodized rubber mounted triple clamps, lightweight Galfer Wave rotors, CNC-machined hubs, high-end Excel rims fitted with Dunlop GEOMAX MX32 tires, KTM/ODI lock-on grips, a KTM PowerParts fork-mounted start device, an engine map select switch and a KTM PowerParts hour meter. MSRP for the 250 SX-F Factory Edition is $9299, and $10,199 for the 450 SX-F Factory Edition.
