AutoTrader.com/Toyota/Yamaha’s Justin Barcia first career Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship win at last weekend’s GEICO Motorcycle Budds Creek National wasn’t just the first premier 450cc class win for the New Yorker, it was also the first AMA 450cc National win for Pirelli in the United States.

Barcia used Pirelli’s MXMS 32 80/100-21 front and 110/90-19 MXMS Mud 32 rear tires to successfully tackle the slimy conditions at the Budds Creek MX Park, round six of the AMA National tour. After finishing third in Moto 1, Barcia started Moto 2 by taking his series leading fourth holeshot just ahead of series point leader Ryan Dungey. Barcia remained in the lead for the entire moto, crossing the finish line with a 17-second cushion of runner-up Blake Baggett.

Muddy conditions created an added challenge for the competitors, but Barcia was able to pull the holeshot and roost his way to the overall victory with a Moto 2 win.

Josh Whitmire, Off Road Race Manager for Pirelli NAFTA, said that it is rewarding to see the success that Pirelli is having, first at Monster Energy Supercross and now the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship.

“We continue to display our commitment to the American motorcycle tire market with wins like [Budds Creek], following Pirelli’s successful motorsports heritage that is renowned around the world–where Pirelli has won 62 World Motocross championships [and] is the sole tire supplier of the FIM World Superbike and Formula 1. To add Justin Barcia’s career first 450 overall win to the list showcases the excellent quality of our Scorpion MX tires that are sold to the American public.”

Round seven of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship is scheduled for next Saturday, July 4, with the Red Bull RedBud National in Buchanan, Michigan.
