The following is a press release from Kawasaki Motors Corp., USA:

Irvine, Calif. (March 29, 2014) – The 2014 Arenacross Race to the Championship came to an exciting close on Saturday at EnergySolutions Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah as the familiar face of reigning champion Tyler Bowers was crowned champion for the fourth-consecutive year. Team Babbitt’s Monster Energy/Amsoil Kawasaki has controlled the series through the entire 12 rounds with Bowers winning 19 main events, 10 head to head bracket races, and 11 overalls to claim the 2014 Amsoil Arenacross Championship.

“This championship was one of the hardest to get,” said Bowers. “After breaking my ankle at the first round and not being able to ride during the week, I was just toughing it out every weekend. I barely held the points lead at all this year, but I got it when it counted. I couldn’t have done it without my whole Team Babbitt’s Monster Energy / Amsoil team sticking behind me and telling me I could do it.”

Team Babbitt’s Monster Energy/Amsoil Kawasaki has been the team to beat as Bowers has stood on top of the standings the last four seasons, along with his teammate Zac Ames who has battled tooth and nail for the title over the last two seasons. Bowers’ championship hopes were almost shattered as he left the first round with a fractured ankle. Similar to 2013 when he gritted through a broken collarbone, the champion had surgery immediately and fought through the pain to not miss a single race.

Bowers climbed back up the leaderboard and took over the points lead before the Race to the Championship began for the last four rounds. After the losing the red plates once again, he reclaimed the championship points lead with a dominating performance in Texas and capped off the season with a win in Salt Lake City. Bowers now has a total of 72 Arenacross wins to his name and sits fourth on the all-time win list.
