Precision Concepts’ Robby Bell celebrated Memorial Day Weekend by earning his fifth Rocky Mountain MC World Off-Road Championship Series (WORCS) win of 2015 at Iron Mine Race Park in Cedar City, Sunday.

Heavy rain showers during the weekend turned the track into a quagmire, but the Pros caught a bit of a break when the rain held off from drenching it any further on Sunday. Defending WORCS Champion Gary Sutherlin took the early lead in the race, but Bell just as quickly joined him to make a two-rider battle for the lead. Bell crashed hard while trying to pass Sutherlin on the course’s new single-track section, but Bell was able to remount and chase after Sutherlin. Bell played it smart for the rest of the race, catching Sutherlin and making a pass for the lead on lap seven.

Once out front, Bell pulled clear of Sutherlin and went on to claim the win, extending his points lead to an impressive 55 points over Justin Jones. (Jones did not compete at the Iron Mine event). With five wins in six rounds, Bell is so far out front that he could clinch the title at the next round of the series in August.
Sutherlin went on to finish in second place, and that vaulted him into third place in the WORCS series standings. Behind him, RPM/KTM’s Eric Yorba scored a second straight Pro podium finish by finishing third. RPM/KTM’s Travis Coy was fourth, and Precision Concepts’ Justin Seeds was fifth.

Justin Wallis was unstoppable in the Pro 2 class, charging into the lead early. Wallis easily outran his Pro 2 competition, not only claiming the class win but also finishing third overall. The Pro 2 win was Wallis’ third of the season.

Mitch Anderson claimed his second win of the season in the Pro 2 Lite class after charging his way from a mid-pack start. Dante Oliveira finished second, and Logan Chambers was third. The three riders are in a tense battle for the class championship with just three WORCS rounds remaining.

Round seven of the 2015 Rocky Mountain MC World Off-Road Championship Series heads north to Straddeline ORV Park in Washington August 1-2.
