When the 2016 Monster Energy AMA 250SX East Supercross Series gets underway at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, next Saturday, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki will gun for the title with two serious contenders in four-time AMSOIL Arenacross Champion Tyler Bowers and Swiss rider Arnaud Tonus.

Bowers and Tonus are ready for battle and eager to get to work after both missed much of the 2015 season due to injury. For both of them, the 250SX East series offers a fresh start and a new chance for glory.

“I feel like I’m ready,” Bowers said. “I am really hungry for redemption after how the last supercross season ended. The bike is, of course, great because the team is so dialed-in. At this point I’ve been looking forward to this for so long that I’m anxious to get the weekend started and get rolling into the season. My back is fully healed now, too. The surgery was a great decision and isn’t holding me back anymore.”

Tonus said that he, too, feels good and is ready to race.

“I’m finally in a place where I can build up my body and endurance to where it needs to be,” Tonus said. “The bike and team are great. We’ve done a lot of testing for this, and it has paid off. I’m just looking forward to the weekend and to get racing. I’ve missed it. I’m still trying to be aware of my training to make sure I don’t overdo it, but other than that I’m physically and mentally ready. Last year was the toughest year of my racing career. It really feels amazing to just be able to head to Atlanta knowing I’m fit and ready.”

The opening round of the 2016 Monster Energy AMA 250SX East Supercross Series will will be televised live along with the rest of round eight of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series on Fox Sports 1 Saturday, February 27. Coverage starts at 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, 4 p.m. Pacific Standard Time.
