Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki Ready for Spring Creek National

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Joey Savatgy, Adam Cianciarulo, Austin Forkner and Justin Hill set for Spring Creek National Motocross in Minnesota.

CORONA, Calif. (July 19, 2017)–With its sand whoops and multiple elevation changes, the track at Spring Creek MX Park in Millville, Minnesota will challenge the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki racers this weekend for Round 8 of the Pro Motocross Championship. Joey Savatgy, Adam Cianciarulo, Austin Forkner and Justin Hill are up for that challenge and after a restful weekend off from traveling, the teammates are making the final preparations to make it back to the podium.

With seven rounds under his belt, Savatgy has yet to score outside the top 10. He is also the only teammate to score an overall victory, a finish that he is looking to replicate again this weekend. Last year, Savatgy narrowly missed the podium and has ridden well at the circuit every year he’s raced it.

“I’ve always had fun at Spring Creek,” said Savatgy. “It’s usually hot, but I’m used to that training in the South. The rollers are fun and it’s a good spot to make up time on other riders. I know the locals will be strong there, but I think we can have a good race.”

Adam Cianciarulo

Cianciarulo hasn’t had much opportunity to race at Spring Creek MX Park but was able to grab a sixth-place finish in 2016. With more experience and a drive to prove he’s podium-ready, Cianciarulo is gunning for his first overall podium of the season.

“I’ve been fourth several times this season and I’ve had races where I know I’m capable of being on the podium, so I’m more than ready to put myself in position for that,” said Cianciarulo. “I know I have to be patient and make sure I minimize the mistakes because everyone will be on top of their game coming out of the weekend off.”

The weekend off was especially helpful for Forkner, who went down at Southwick and was thankful for the extra time to recoup back to 100 percent. The sophomore rider is eager to better his result from last year after proving he was capable of tackling the technical track during the opening moto in 2016.

“Last year we did pretty well at Spring Creek, but my results didn’t show it,” said Forkner. “It will be good to go back with a year under my belt and see if I can get another podium finish for the team. I haven’t been able to avoid some of the first turn carnage so I’ll try and focus on getting a good start.”

Like Forkner, Hill was happy to get some extra time away from traveling and work on getting back to 100 percent. While Hill didn’t race Spring Creek in 2016 due to injury, he’s focused on putting together two solid motos all while showcasing his speed.

“After crossing the country the past few weeks, it was nice to get a weekend off,” said Hill. “I am looking forward to getting back to the starting gate and I’ll be concentrating on putting in two solid motos. I know I have the speed, but the pieces have to come together this weekend.”

The Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki fans are able to get autographs from riders on Saturday morning after their practice sessions at the Monster Energy Kawasaki semi. To watch the motos, the NBC Sports Gold pass can be purchased for nonstop coverage. The first 250 Class will be LIVE on MavTV at 1 p.m. ET, while Moto 2 will be delayed until 11:00 p.m. ET on NBC Sports.
