Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Zach Osborne appears to be getting on a roll in the 2017 Monster Energy AMA 250SX East Supercross Series. At Rogers Centre, in Toronto, Canada, Osborne landed his second consecutive win in the class and added to the series points lead that he claimed with his win at the previous round in Atlanta.

Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha’s Dylan Ferrandis pulled the holeshot when the 250cc machines came to the gate for the points-paying main event. Ferrandis led Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Joey Savatgy and Osborne through the first turn. Savatgy began was able to get by Ferrandis initially, but Ferrandis managed to retake the lead with a quick run through the whoops. Savatgy’s second pass attempt was more of the same, as he took the lead but couldn’t make it stick. The battle for the lead then got even more crowded as Osborne, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Adam Cianciarulo fourth, and Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha’s Colt Nichols tried to join the fray.

Savatgy was able to finally dispatch Ferrandis on lap four, and Osborne moved into second place one lap later. Ferrandis then handed Cianciarulo third place by crashing.

Osborne then hounded Savatgy, and he was able to capitalize on a mistake by the Kawasaki rider to take over the lead on lap six. Osborne would extend that lead throughout most of the race claiming just his second career 250SX win with 9.1 seconds in hand.

“The track was tough tonight, but I had a good feeling from the start of the day,” said Osborne, who earned his first-career win last weekend. “I’m enjoying riding right now and I have the confidence to come out here and do well. It’s an amazing feeling, and the pressure is going to build week in and week out [as points leader]. To get my first win last weekend and back it up here [in Toronto] is awesome and ensures we avoid any sort of slump.”

Cianciarulo inherited second place after Savatgy crashed hard on lap 14. GEICO Honda’s Christian Craig finished third, ahead of Colt Nichols. Ferrandis finished fifth. Savatgy finished fifth.

Osborne now leads Savatgy by 12 points in the Monster Energy AMA 250SX East Supercross Series standings, 70-58 Eastern Regional standings.

The 2017 Monster Energy Supercross season continues March 11, for the 10th round of the series, the Daytona Supercross by Honda, at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida.
