The following is a press release from KTM North America:

Red Bull KTM Factory rider Ryan Dungey finished second overall and second in the series in the 450cc class at the final race of the 2013 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship Series held at Lake Elsinore Motocross Park on August 24, while Red Bull KTM Factory rider Ken Roczen took a moto win on his way to a second-place overall finish in the 250cc. Roczen’s 250cc teammate, Marvin Musquin, rebounded from two first-lap crashes to finish 7th overall.

In the first 450cc moto, Dungey leaped off the start line to a fifth-place start. By the halfway mark he had moved his KTM into podium position and was sitting in third. He then set his sights on the second place ride of Josh Grant. With a few laps remaining, he was able to catch Grant and make a pass stick to take over the position. He went on to finish the moto in second place.

Dungey launched off to a better start in the second moto and came around the first corner in fourth. He quickly caught the third place rider and made a pass before the end of the next lap. Dungey spent the next two laps catching up to Justin Barcia, and easily got around him in a rhythm section. Once in second, he settled in and finished the race with another podium position. His 2-2 moto scores earned him second overall for the day.

After twelve rounds in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Series, Dungey finishes second in the overall point standings. He will now begin training for the Motocross Des Nations event where he will represent Team USA.

In the 250cc class, Roczen put his KTM out front early at the start of moto one. He rounded the first corner in second place and took over the lead before the riders got to the first jump. Roczen went on to lead every lap of the race as he pulled out to a 12-second lead to take a dominating win over rival Eli Tomac.

Roczen’s teammate, Musquin, did not have as good of luck in moto one. Although he got off to a good start, he suffered a crash after coming up short on a double jump early in the race which lost him multiple positions. He eventually recovered and came around the next lap in 14th. He charged hard for the remainder of the race, continuing to pick up positions all the way to the final lap. On the last lap, he passed Cole Seely to claim his final position which placed him ninth for the moto.

In the second moto, Roczen pulled another good start and was sitting fifth after the first corner. Within the first lap he had already moved into third before he suffered a crash after he clipped the rear wheel of Zach Osborne’s bike coming out of a corner. He dropped back to 14th place. Two laps later he had already made progress and was sitting in 11th. He continued to charge forward throughout the moto to eventually work his way up to seventh place. His 1-7 moto results earned him 2nd overall for the day.

Unfortunately, Musquin suffered another crash on the opening lap of moto two and was in 22nd position after lap one. He put together a solid performance to move his KTM into the top ten by the end of the moto. His 9-10 moto finishes placed him seventh overall for the day.
