The Kawasaki Team Green motocross program once again displayed its championship-gathering ability at the 2014 Thor Winter Olympics in Florida, last week, as Team Green riders earned a total of 21 championship titles.

Team Green riders made an impact right from the drop of the first gate, as they racked up 10 championships before transitioning to the historic Gatorback Cycle Park motocross track and adding another 11 titles. Leading the way was Austin Forkner, competing in his first amateur national on a Kawasaki KX250F. Forkner claimed three motocross championships, including 250cc B, 450cc B, and Schoolboy (13-16). Meanwhile, Darian Sanayei topped 250cc Pro Sport and 450cc Pro Sport supercross classes and was awarded the coveted Dunlop Silver Tire Award as the most outstanding expert division rider as well as the A class Olympiad Champion (for motocross and supercross combined). Team Green riders Jett Reynolds and John Grewe also contributed to the team’s tally.

Forkner, Joey Crown, and Jordan Bailey all made their amateur national debuts in the B class. Forkner was undefeated, winning all six of his motos, while Crown won his division moto in 250cc B Limited with Bailey finishing second, and Tristan Miller also won his division moto in 250cc B. In the A class, Sanayei and Mitchell Harrison grabbed holeshots and led the field. Harrison finished third overall in 250cc A and 250cc Pro Sport, while Sanayei finished second.

Jett Reynolds dominated the 65cc (7-9) and 85cc (9-11) classes.

Reynolds rode KX65s and KX85s to victory, winning the 65cc (7-9) championship and the 85cc (9-11) championship. At only 9 years old, Reynolds was the youngest rider in the 85cc class. Team Green riders Garrett Marchbanks and Carson Mumford dominated the Super Mini classes. Mumford won his division moto but was forced sit out the main event after a crash. Marchbanks however ran away with the Super Mini 2 (13-16) championship on his KX100.

Team Green Vet rider John Grewe took home the Vet 35+ and Senior 45+ championships, while former pro Scott Sheak won the Senior 40+ class and Earl May won the Masters 50+ title.

The Thor Winter Olympics was also the site for the final round of the AMA Women’s Pro Motocross Championship (WMX). Marissa Markelon was sitting three points behind in the championship and needed to win in order to land the number one plate. Disaster struck while Markelon was racing the Women (14+) class and ran into engine trouble. Fortunately, Team Green trackside support got her KX250F back up and running, and she was able to line up for the final WMX round. Markelon won both motos and clinched her first WMX championship.
