MORGANTOWN, W. Va. (September 11, 2014) – Round 10 of the 2014 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country Series presented by Maxxis, an AMA National Championship, took place this past weekend at the legendary Unadilla Raceway in New Berlin with the Can-Am Unadilla GNCC. Following a wildly successful event in 2013, the 10th Annual Unadilla GNCC, with the help of Western New York Off-Road Association (WNYOA) as a co-sanctioning partner, drew in an astonishing 2,076 unique ATV and motorcycle race entries, marking the largest rider attended event in the 39-year history of GNCC Racing.

Western New York has become a hotbed for off-road racing thanks to the hard work and dedication from the folks at WNYOA, a volunteer-based organization that puts on Hare Scramble events throughout eastern Pennsylvania and western New York. Through GNCC’s co-sanctioning initiative, WNYOA riders have the opportunity to earn championship points toward the GNCC and WNYOA series at the same time, adding a bonus feature to the already popular Unadilla GNCC.

This milestone tops the Unadilla GNCC’s 2013 success, where the event broke the previous record with 1,967 unique race entries.
“New York does not disappoint. Even after last year’s milestone turnout, 2014 proved to be better yet,” said Rita Coombs, President of Racer Productions and Organizer of GNCC Racing. “The people of New York are amazing and love their off-road racing.”

The famed Unadilla Raceway, known to motorsports fans all over the U.S. as the “Home of Horsepower”, lends a hand in creating one of the most challenging-yet widely popular-courses on the GNCC circuit. The woods are tight and covered in New York’s trademark black loam but perhaps the most unique feature is the use of the Unadilla motocross track (“U1”), which means wide, sweeping corners and some very steep elevation changes.
