Troy Lee Designs continues to push safety innovation in its helmets to match the colorful and stylish off-road riding gear it produces, and the SE4 Carbon helmet is the latest example of that, which is why it made our 6 Best DirtBike Helmets list. The SE4 Carbon weighs in at a feathery 1325 grams—the lightest lid that TLD has ever manufactured—and incorporates Multi-Directional Impact Protection System (MIPS) technology to better manage rotational impact energy transmitted through the helmet to the rider’s head during angled impacts. The SE4 Carbon also boasts 13% more EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) in its liner than ever before to disperse energy during a head strike, with three separate EPS inserts with impact-specific densities to help the rider survive low- mid- and high-speed impacts. Plastic visor screws and brass inserts are used for easy impact break-away of the visor.

The SE4 Carbon Squadra features six top intakes feeding 10 internal ports to channel cool air through the helmet, and six exhaust ports fed by nine internal passages evacuate heated air. Its removable snap-in, washable liner features Cool Max and Dri-lex moisture wicking materials, and its anatomical 3D-contoured cheek pads feature an emergency release system that allows safe removal of the helmet while minimizing head and neck movement in the event of a serious crash. The SE4 Carbon Squadra meets or exceeds Snell M2015, DOT FMVSS 218, ECE 22.05 crash impact standards.
