Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s veteran rider Mike Brown brought home the X Games Gold Medal last night during the X Games EnduroX at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.

Brown’s win didn’t come without a slight rollercoaster momentum-wise, as he consistently cut the fastest times of the day during practice, only to crash during his heat race. Brown still finished third in heat race and earned a direct transfer to the main.

After a 10-minute rain delay, RPM KTM’s Cody Webb took the early lead, but Brown passed Webb pass midway through the race and stayed upright aboard his factory Husqvarna FC 350 for the rest of the 12-lap main event to take the X Games gold medal.

“Today couldn’t have gone much better,” Brown said. “It feels great to win, and I’m absolutely overwhelmed. My bike ran great, the weather was nice and I have a great team and family behind me. I’m loving this shiny gold medal!”

Red Bull KTM’s Taylor Robert ran third for most of the race, but he took full advantage of the lead battle between Brown and Webb to close up the gap between himself and the leaders. Robert was able to reel-in Webb and overtake him for second place as they hit the tire double. Robert spent the remaining laps trying to catch Brown, narrowing the gap to just a few bike lengths before settling for second place and the an X Games silver medal. Webb finished third to claim the bronze medal.

Webb led the opening laps while a hard-charging Mike Brown and Robert began the hunt for the lead position. Brown was able to make a pass on Webb with a few laps remaining.

“I felt really good tonight,” stated Robert. “This track was really fun and I am happy with my finish. I have come back from some injuries this year and I finally feel 100%. I am excited to get a good finish here and continue to improve in the series.”

Despite being passed twice on an Endurocross track--a rare occurrence for him--Cody Webb still held on to finish third and claim the bronze medal.

Factory KTM rally star Laia Sanz came over from Spain and put together a great ride in the Women’s EnduroX to win the gold medal. Tarah Gieger finished second, and Kacy Martinez finished third.

Factory rider Kacy Martinez also medaled in the Women’s EnduroX event. She finished 3rd overall to take home the bronze medal after riding a mistake-free race.
