Two-time AMA Supercross Champion James Stewart has been suspended by the FIM for failing a drug test that was administered on April 12.

The test was administered during the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series, an FIM World Championship season by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), following the Seattle round of the series. Today, the FIM announced that Stewart’s urine sample had “adverse analytical finding of amphetamine,” and has placed him under provisional suspension indefinitely, effective June 30.

According to the FIM, Stewart has the right to request and attend the analysis of his B sample.

According to Stewart via a Yoshimura Suzuki team press release issued today, the positive result was caused by medicine prescribed by his physician to help treat a long-term condition. Stay tuned.
