Monster Energy/Yamaha Factory Racing and Cooper Webb are ready to compete at Round 9 In Atlanta This Saturday

Tomorrow night kicks off the second round of the Triple Crown, a three-city showdown, where the riders will compete in three Main Events with an Olympic style scoring system. Justin Barcia is unfortunately still recovering from a broken hand, but Cooper Webb feels confident and ready to go. Hopefully he can put his YZ450F on the podium in front of the Atlanta crowd.

Cypress, CAMarch 1, 2018Round 9 of the 2018 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship is this Saturday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, and both Monster Energy/Yamaha Factory Racing riders will be in attendance. Justin Barcia (#51), who is still recovering from injury, won’t be riding, but he’ll be there to support his team and hang out with his fans.

As for Cooper, his results have been improving each week, so look for the North Carolina native to continue his surge to the top of the podium at what he considers to be his home race.

“This past weekend was a big step in the right direction for me,” Cooper said. “I got my first holeshot and led some laps in a Main Event for the first time this season. I got to learn the pace, and I plan to stay up front all the way to the checkers! I’m really excited for Atlanta. It’s a hometown race for me, and I’ll have many friends and family members in attendance cheering me on. I didn’t get to race in the A-T-L last year due to my shoulder injury, so I’m really chomping at the bit to get out there this weekend!”

Atlanta is the second round of the Triple Crown, a three-city showdown where the riders will compete in three Main Events. An Olympic-style scoring method will be used to determine an overall winner from all three Main Events where the rider with the lowest combined score at the end will be awarded the overall win.

About this weekend’s Triple Crown format, Cooper commented, “The new format is something that I feel I’ve gotten better at since the first one in Anaheim. It was completely new then, but now I know what it feels like to race it, and I’ve made a few adjustments to my program that I feel will help me in the shorter, higher-intensity Main Events. I’m excited to see how this one plays out.”
