Husqvarna TiLUBE TUF Racing’s Kyle Regal got a leg up on the competition in the Amsoil Arenacross Race to the Championship by earning his sixth overall victory of the year when the AMSOIL Arenacross Series visited Spokane Arena in Spokane, Washington, Saturday night.

Team Babbitt’s Monster Energy/AMSOIL Kawasaki’s Jacob Hayes grabbed the holeshot ahead of the each of the top contenders in the Race to the Championship – including teammate Matt Goerke, Team Babbitt’s Chris Blose, Gavin Faith and Regal. The running order was mostly unchanged for the majority of the 15-lap main until lap 12, when the entire complexion of the race changed. Goerke attempted to cut to the inside of Hayes, and the two touched, causing Hayes to crash out of the lead right before the finish. Hayes was able to quickly remount, but to fifth place. Goerke moved into the lead and was able to keep Blose at bay for the win, while Regal passed Faith late in the race to finish fourth fourth, ahead of ThermoTec/FMC Racing Yamaha’s Bobby Kiniry, who slipped past Hayes for fifth.

As the winner, Goerke selected the inversion for the second main event. With the help of the standing-room-only crowd, he selected number 16, which meant the entire field would invert. Motosport.com/Haeseker Racing KTM’s Gared Steinke took advantage of his improved gate pick to grab the holeshot, ahead of College Hunks Hauling Junk/Spinechillers Racing KTM’s Dave Ginolfi and Regal. Kiniry followed in fourth, with Goerke fifth. Faith slotted into eighth, while both Hayes and Blose found themselves outside the top 10 and near the tail end of the field.

Regal took full advantage of his strong start to pass Ginolfi for second on lap four, just as Ginolfi’s bike broke a chain, dropping him out of the race. Kiniry moved into third, and Blose made his way around Hayes. Steinke held on to take the first AMSOIL Arenacross main event win of his career, with Regal second and Faith third. Babbitt’s Online Suzuki’s Cory Green was a solid fourth, and Blose was fifth.

Regal’s pair of podium finishes (3-2) ultimately earned him the overall win over teammate Faith (4-3), who was able to secure the runner-up spot thanks to a win in the RMATV/MC Head 2 Head Challenge, which awarded him an additional championship bonus point. Blose’s top-five finish in the second main event was good enough to land him third overall (2-5). Green was fourth (7-4) with Goerke fifth (1-10).

Regal carried a four-point lead into the evening, but his Spokane win has now vaulted him into a six-point lead over Blose in the Race to the Championship. Faith sits third, 12 points back, while Hayes is 15 back and Goerke is 16 points back.

In the Western Regional Arenacross Lites Class Motosport.com/Haeseker Racing KTM’s Daniel clinched the first Arenacross Lites championship of his career with three races remaining when he finished third in the main event. Slaka Wear KTM’s Steven Mages took the early lead ahead of College Hunks Hauling Junk/Spinechillers Racing KTM’s Dave Ginolfi and TZR/Woodstock KTM’s Scott Zont when the Arenacross Lites main event got underway. Blair found himself mid-pack, completing the first lap in eighth. Mages’ impressive pace allowed him to keep Ginofli at bay throughout the 15-lap race. While Ginolfi was able to put some pressure on Mages, he was never able to mount a serious challenge for the top spot.

Blair, meanwhile put together a charge to the front after a lackluster start, picking his way through the field, to move into seventh place by lap two and into the top five on lap five. Blair but put on a late–race charge in the closing laps to take over fourth on lap 11, and he moved into third place with just two laps remaining. Mages extended his lead over Ginolfi and took the win, but Blair’s third-place finish was enough to clinch the Western Arenacross Lites title. Zont finished fourth, while R-One/Spokeskins Yamaha’s R.J. Wageman rounded out the top five.
