Yamaha’s new-for-2014 YZ250F proved itself in America’s premier national motocross series last weekend when Yamalube Star Racing’s Jeremy Martin clinched the Lucas Oil AMA 250cc Pro Motocross Championship, claiming the first AMA National MX title for the brand since Grant Langston’s 450cc title in 2007. Martin is Yamaha’s first champion in the 250cc (formerly 125cc) class since Jeff Emig in 1992.

Martin’s clinched the title with a second-place finish in Moto 1 on an extremely muddy racetrack at Ironman MX Raceway in Crawfordsville, Indiana, capping a season that has seen no less than three Yamaha riders visit the top of the podium. In addition to Martin’s five wins, his Star teammate Cooper Webb and Valli Motorsports Yamaha’s Christophe Pourcel have both recorded wins.

Martin’s title comes courtesy of an amazingly hot start at the beginning of the 12-race season, in which he won the first five motos of the season, and a total of eight thus far. As a spoil of war, Martin will wear the number one on his Yamaha in 2015 and carry the red plate for the last time this year at the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship season finale at Miller Motorsports in Tooele, Utah, this weekend. – is the first of three YZ250F runners in the top five of the contest with Webb in third spot and Pourcel (with the most amount of holeshots this season) currently fifth.
