It’s been a long time coming, but Yamaha Motor Europe has confirmed that France’s Valentin Guillod will race in the premier MXGP class of the 2016 FIM Motocross World Championship.

“It is with great pleasure and anticipation that Yamaha Racing and the Kemea confirm that Valentin Guillod will represent them in the premier class of motocross aboard a Yamaha YZ450F,” a Yamaha Motor Europe release stated.

Guillod was a serious championship contender aboard his factory YZ250F in the MX2 class last season. He scored three moto wins, nine podium finishes, three overall GP wins and six GP podium finishes to finish fourth in the 2015 FIM MX2 World Championship standings. According to Yamaha, Guillod’s results showed that he had the maturity to move up to the next level. Having turned 23 years old on December 18, Guillod has also reached the age limit for the MX2 class.

With the talented Swiss rider added to their line-up, the Kemea team looks forward to a year full off-road racing action as it will compete in no less than three classes: MXGP, MX2 and EMX250.

The new combination of the Kemea YZ450F and Guillod is scheduled to test its race pace for the first time at the MX Pre-Season Race Alghero, Italy, on the 30th-31st Jan.
