With just three of 17 supercross rounds in the books, we’ve already seen the series points lead change hands in dramatic fashion, and there is yet to be a repeat winner, with several riders still capable of stepping up and making their mark earl

Already, two of the heavy favorites–Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac and Red Bull KTM’s Marvin Musquin, find themselves on the ropes in the title chase despite each claiming a series victory. Musquin looked strong when he came out and won the series opening Anaheim I Supercross, but the win came only after Tomac crashed out of the race while enjoying a commanding lead. Then, in Houston, it was Musquin’s turn to hit the deck and miss the main event. With Tomac still on the mend and unable to compete at Houston, both men dropped off the radar screen as Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Jason Anderson moved into the series points lead with an authoritative main event win.

Round three, the first round of the 2018 Monster Energy Triple Crown, brought a new twist in which the riders would need to win three main events in order collect the usual 26 championship points awarded a single main event winner. Back from injury, Tomac was consistent enough to get the job done despite winning only one of the three mains. Team Honda HRC’s Cole Seely, on the other hand, looked absolutely brilliant as he won the first main event finished second in the next one, only to suffer a bad start in the third that cost him what was a legitimate shot at a win. There was no question that Seely was fast at Anaheim II.

The same event also marked so-so performances by early title contenders Musquin, Justin Barcia and Ken Roczen. While Musquin has basically spotted the field one main event, Barcia and Roczen find themselves third and fourth respectively in the 2018 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series points standings. Anderson now holds an 11-point lead over Seely, but Barcia and Roczen are right in the hunt.

So, we want to hear from you. Answer our supercross poll question and tell us who you think will be the man holding the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series number one plate. Will it be one of these gladiators, or will someone else step up and make the series, well, even more unpredictable?
