His career-first 450 overall win came early in the season, during Round 2 at Glen Helen after he posted 1-3 finishes. Where it looked like Musquin was going to be near the top of the “ones to watch” list, he unfortunately suffered a torn meniscus right before Round 4 at High Point. It would take a few rounds for him to regain his stride, but the pieces all fell together in Millville, Minnesota, at Spring Creek, where he took a commanding lead the moment the gate dropped. On a track that was extremely rough and rugged, Musquin excelled, and he claimed his career-first 1-1 sweep. He then followed that up with two more 1-1 victories at Washougal and Unadilla as well. Musquin would remain in the title fight up until the final moto of the season where he finished 2-2 for second overall and second in the championship.
