3. Colt Nichols earns career-first Pro Motocross podium at the Ironman National.
Colt Nichols, who had a strong showing during the 2016 Monster Energy Supercross season, was aiming for similar results in 2017. But his year started out with a broken femur sustained in November, causing the Nichols to have to switch from the West region to the East region. Then, just before Daytona, Nichols suffered from a torn MCL and fractured tibia, which ended his Supercross season immediately.

Fighting back from injuries is challenging for any rider, but to put in the work to be back in podium form is even more impressive. Although they didn’t come until the final race of the season, Nichols results at the Ironman National are evidence of his dedication. His 3-4 finish at the final round of racing were enough to earn him his career-first Pro Motocross podium, third overall.
