7. In his rookie 450cc season, Martin Davalos earns his career-first 450 podium.
Martin Davalos has been known as a “career 250cc class rider,” a rider who has consistently done well without pointing out of the class.

Although Davalos had stated that he wanted the chance to ride in the 450cc class, opportunities had not come about until this season when Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing moved Davalos to a 450 for the 2017 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. Davalos finished every race of the season in at least the Top 15 in the highly competitive 450cc class, and all the pieces fell into line at Washougal where his 4-3 score netted his career-first 450cc podium–third place. Like teammate Dean Wilson, Davalos would follow up his career-first podium appearance with his career-best finish the next week, at Unadilla, where he finished second overall. Davalos finished out his rookie 450cc season in ninth in the points standings–not bad for a “career 250cc class rider.”
